Vocal and Electronics Improvisor
Rachel's vocal and electronic improvisation both leans into the absurd and into the sublime. She seeks to find that crossing points between the two and push the limits of expectation. She has a fascination with extended vocals, with interests in how to imitate electronic instruments with her acoustic voice control.
She has performed as an improvisor with Fred Frith, Okkyung Lee, Pauline Oliveros, Maria Chavez, Alvin Curran, Zeena Parkins, gabby fluke-mogul, Deniz Peters, Paul Stapleton, Simon Rose, and Erika Oba. She has performed with dancers Molissa Fenley, Anna Halprin, Sherwood Chen, Yuko Kaseki, Tadashi Endo, and Dohee Lee.
